We hope you had a nice long weekend, Golden Knights! Keep reading to see what’s coming up this week.

Just a heads up – we’ll be taking a short break from In the Know next Sunday, November 20. We’ll be back to your regularly scheduled programming after Thanksgiving break on Sunday, November 26!

P.S. Do you have any announcements or events to share with other students? Get the word out! Email your In the Know submissions to Sarah at heikkins@strose.edu by 5 p.m. Thursdays to be featured in the next edition and to be added to a weekly reminder email for submissions.

Spring 2023 classes are right around the corner! Undergraduate student registration will begin Monday, November 14, at 9 a.m. and graduate student registration will begin Monday, November 21, at 9 a.m. Mark your calendars! Don’t forget your registration time! Double check that you have your Alternate Pin from your advisor so you can make sure you get registered for the winter and spring terms.

A celebration of life: Light up the Campus Green with lanterns to celebrate the lives of friends and family who have passed this Tuesday, November 15, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Honor the fact that their light and their love live on. The lanterns/luminaria and lights will be available at the Sanctuary (just inside the doors) – you’re invited to write a name or a message and place it along the path outside. Take this time to remember those people who have added to your life and join with others who have also been through losing someone they love. We get strength from each other. 💛

Paint and sip with Res Life 🎨 Join RA Laura in the Centennial Lounge this Wednesday, November 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for an alcohol-free paint and sip! You’ll sip on delicious mocktails, paint a pretty picture, and learn about the dangers of alcohol.

Consent, Contraception, and Conversation … oh my! This Monday, November 14, at 7 p.m., you’re invited to join RA Sydney, RA Yasmine, and Health Services for a sexual health conversation in the Lima Lounge. Come for free condoms and sexual wellness kits, informative skits, and PIZZA!

Thinking about grad school at Saint Rose? Graduate admissions representatives will be in the EAC on Thursday, November 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. They’ll also be hosting a panel discussion with some of your favorite professors on navigating the graduate school admissions process from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Carondelet Symposium. Save the date to learn more about our graduate programs!

Big news from the Golden Knight Shop: Saint Rose’s very own community clothing and food resource is transitioning from their usual tabling outside Starbucks to a permanent location in EAC Room 20! Join them for the grand opening this Thursday, November 17, at 5:30 p.m. Come check out the space and try some of the food that will be available, too!

Want to get your parking tickets waived? Donate to the Period Product Drive! For every period product brought in between November 14 and 17, one parking ticket will be waived by Campus Security. We need pads and liners, tampons, menstrual cups, wipes, pain relievers, and more! Donations can be dropped off in the EAC outside of Starbucks. Thank you to our friends at Security for offering this awesome ticket amnesty program!

Adopt a family (or an individual) for the holidays! The Office of Spiritual Life is working in partnership with a local service organization to make sure families and individuals in need know someone cares about them this holiday season. Want to help? You can participate on your own or team up with a few friends, your club, or even your residence hall to do some good for our community. You’ll find a list of needed items here – sign up to pick which gifts you’d like to give to those in need this holiday season. You can also stop by the Interfaith Sanctuary and pick up a gift tag.  Gifts are due back at the Interfaith Sanctuary on December 5 (unwrapped, but in a box if that is appropriate).

Got spring break plans? If you’re already planning what you want to do next March, we hope you’ll consider spending Spring Break 2023 adding some good to the world! Join the Offices of Community Service and Spiritual Life from March 4 to 9 as they head to our nation’s Capital to work in meal programs, learn about the causes of homelessness and chronic poverty, and meet with our elected officials to ask them to act on behalf of those most in need. The deadline to sign up for this trip is December 1! Download the application here. You can drop off applications downstairs at the Interfaith Sanctuary or email them to Joan Horgan at horganj@strose.edu

Get support from the Albany County Crime Victim & Sexual Violence Center (CVSVC). The CVSVC supports and serves students who are victims/survivors of sexual assault, stalking, domestic violence, and other forms of interpersonal violence. Their free and comprehensive services include, but are not limited to Title IX advocacy, referral services, counseling, and criminal advocacy to crime victims. Alice Zhang, a representative from the center, will be available to meet with students as a confidential resource in person (or remotely) on Mondays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Counseling Center. Students can email Alice directly at Yanjingxin.Zhang@albanycountyny.gov to schedule an appointment or simply drop in. All CVSVC services are confidential, meaning their advocates won’t contact the College or law enforcement without your explicit consent.

Find your people 💛 Need a break? We’ve all been there. Come de-stress and meet other students at Fun with Friends, a weekly activity where you’ll be invited to prioritize calmness and joy. Activities include baking, arts and crafts, games, and whatever else you want to do to cultivate good vibes for the week. Fun with Friends meets every Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Interfaith Sanctuary.
