Countdown to our next job fairs…TWO DAYS 💼 Register now to attend the Business and STEM Internship and Job Fairs this week! The Business Fair will be held on Tuesday, February 14, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Saint Joseph Hall Auditorium. Click here to register (looking at you, students in business and arts and humanities). The STEM Fair will be held Wednesday, February 15, at the same time and location. Click here to register (Hi, students in math and science and education!).

Saint Rose Lacrosse is BACK 🥍 You’re invited to join us this Wednesday, February 15, for our men’s lacrosse team’s home opener vs. Mercy College at the Christian Plumeri Sports Complex! Before the game kicks off, we’ll be holding a pregame ceremony on the field at 3:30 p.m., followed by a moment of silence as we come together as a Golden Knights family to honor the life of Matt Frankel. Matt was a rising senior business major and men’s lacrosse student-athlete who sadly passed away weeks before the start of his senior year. Matt was positive, outgoing, and larger than life. He was an amazing son, brother, friend, and teammate who loved his family and his dog. He is greatly missed by all those who were lucky enough to know him. We hope you’ll join us this Wednesday to honor his memory and support his team 💛

Celebrating Black Joy This month, our friends in the offices of Community Service and Spiritual Life are so excited to present a series of interactive experiences celebrating Black joy! This three-part event will focus on the joy found in Black culture and will offer a chance for all to participate and create art together. Join them this Friday, February 17, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. for Movement and Play! Enjoy performances by student dance groups, explore the way we express ourselves through dance, and participate in our double dutch contest!

🚨Hey graduating seniors and grad students!🚨 This is a reminder to make sure you have or will apply for graduation! If you plan on graduating in May, you should have already applied, but if you missed last semester’s deadline, you can still make it. Please get your degree applications in ASAP!!! If you plan to graduate in August 2023, you should also be applying now. Instructions can be found here.

A reminder from your friends in Campus Security: LOCK. YOUR. CARS. Unfortunately, a number of unlocked cars in the Lima Lot were broken into last week. We want to remind you to always keep your car locked with any valuables left out of sight, including charger cables and aux cords. You should lock your car even if you’re leaving it for a few minutes! Please report any suspicious persons or activities ASAP, too – if you’re on-campus, use the Rave Guardian app or call Security at 518.454.5187; if you’re off-campus, call the Albany Police Center Station at 518.458.5659. Stay safe, Saint Rose!

Get your money! The FAFSA deadline is getting closer every day, Golden Knights. Luckily, our Financial Aid department is hosting a walk-in FAFSA filing event for ALL students for the 2023-24 school year on Friday, February 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You’ll need your 2021 tax information to help aid the process. The Financial Aid office is located on the third floor of Saint Joseph Hall. P.S. There’s no need to make an appointment! Just head to the Financial Aid office when you’re ready to get to work.

Be prepared: Don’t forget that on March 16, Saint Rose will conduct a Hostile Intruder Drill. This training will help everyone know what to do in the event of a hostile intruder, an unfortunate reality in today’s world. To prepare, the College is holding training sessions so you know what to do during the drill when you receive a RAVE alert. Training will be held:

  • Monday, February 13, from noon to 1 p.m. in Midknight Eats
  • Tuesday, February 28, from 5 to 6 p.m. in Midknight Eats

Happy Black History Month, Saint Rose! The Office of Inclusion and Engagement is bringing us so many unique opportunities to celebrate Black excellence and joy this month 💛 Head to the Calendar section to see the full schedule of events, including days of service with the Black Student Union, Mardi Gras celebrations, game nights, and a special screening of “The Woman King” – you won’t want to miss any of it!

An important COVID-19 reminder: If you test positive for COVID with your own test, please email covidresults@strose.edu ASAP! Testing is also available in Health Services Monday through Friday.

Save the date for our next Blood Drive! The American Red Cross will be back on campus on Tuesday, February 21, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Saint Joseph Hall Auditorium. Click here to sign up! P.S. If you’re interested in volunteering, please email Theresa Belfance at belfanct@strose.edu. You’ll be eligible to receive community service hours!

Mark your calendars for an Evening of Heartbreak Poetry 💔 Next Wednesday, February 15, our very own English Professor Daniel Nester will be hosting an evening dedicated to the anti-hero, anti-love, broken-hearted, still bejeweled, sad, beautiful, and tragic at the Albany Public Library’s Pine Hills Branch. The event will also feature performances by Danni Beltran, Leza Cantoral, Luis Pabon, and Christoph Paul. For more details and to register to perform your own poetry, visit the Library’s website.

Your mental health matters. The College’s Counseling Center is always here for you when you need support, whatever that looks like. Follow them on Instagram for mental health and self-care tips at @csrcounselingctr! You can also learn more about the services offered by our counselors here.

Get support from the Albany County Crime Victim & Sexual Violence Center (CVSVC). The CVSVC supports and serves students who are victims/survivors of sexual assault, stalking, domestic violence, and other forms of interpersonal violence. Their free and comprehensive services include, but are not limited to Title IX advocacy, referral services, counseling, and criminal advocacy to crime victims. Alice Zhang, a representative from the center, will be available to meet with students as a confidential resource in person (or remotely) on Mondays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Counseling Center. Students can email Alice directly at Yanjingxin.Zhang@albanycountyny.gov to schedule an appointment or simply drop in. All CVSVC services are confidential, meaning their advocates won’t contact the College or law enforcement without your explicit consent.

Download Liberate! This meditation app is a fantastic resource for Black students looking to develop a daily meditation habit. For more resources for BIPOC mental health, visit the Counseling Center website!

Get a free sexual wellness kit: Counseling and Health Services are now offering free sexual wellness kits to students! Call, email, or stop by their office to pick up your kit and any other sexual wellness goodies you need to enjoy yourselves (and each other) safely. Each kit includes finger and regular condoms, dental dams, and lube. Email counseling@strose.edu or healthservices@strose.edu for more information.

Saint Rose’s Chest Binder Program: Saint Rose students who identify as trans and/or nonbinary are eligible to get one FREE chest binder from the Counseling Center every semester. For more info, call our counselors at 518.454.5200, or send them an email at counseling@strose.edu
