Instructional Designer
Jen Laubscher is our Instructional Designer in Online Learning Services. She consults with faculty to design and refine online courses, use pedagogical best practices in online courses, and supports Saint Rose faculty in designing and teaching online courses. She also serves as the OLS representative on various College committees and meetings. Jen enjoys working with her colleagues in OLS to create a positive learning experience for students through developing streamlined workflows, providing learning opportunities for faculty, and responding to ever-changing new innovations in instructional technology.
Jen earned a MS in Curriculum and Instruction, and a MS in Mental Health Counseling, both at SUNY Oswego. In 2001 she began her career as an Elementary Teacher. While teaching, she was bitten by the technology bug and left the classroom to become an Instructional Technology Specialist. She worked with K-12 faculty on designing blended learning experiences and technology integration.
In 2018, Jen moved into Higher Education as an Instructional Designer at Cornell University, on a temporary contract, and guided them through moving courses from Blackboard into Canvas. She also provided consultations to faculty on the pedagogy of teaching online. Jen has also held Instructional Designer positions at both Johns Hopkins University: Bloomberg School of Public Health, and SUNY Oswego: Extended Learning.
