Grad students enjoy the expertise of our computer science and social work faculty, and innovative programs that work around their schedules.

No matter what your goals are — our School of Mathematics and Sciences will help you achieve them.

Saint Rose helped me find my passion for community health research. During my time in the psychology program, I gained the skills, knowledge, and compassion that have led me to advocate for multidisciplinary approaches to address the needs of underserved communities."

The professors in the computer science program are some of the nicest, most knowledgeable, caring people I have ever worked with. And, even going past that, so many of the students are so nice and helpful. I entered the grad program basically on my own, but along the way have gotten to work with so many intelligent people, and just having the capability to rely on one another when we need it has been so helpful these past couple of years."

Mock Trial Program

Our Mock Trial program prepares students for beyond graduation, including the rigors of law school if that’s the path they choose. Regardless of their chosen field, the confidence and presentation skills gained through Mock Trial stay with our graduates for life. In addition to practicing law, students graduating from the program go on to varying professions, such as mental health counseling, engineering, and chemistry.

The College of Saint Rose has helped me achieve my goals by instilling my passion and knowledge in forensic science. As a result of direct instrumental use as well as conceptual knowledge, I have gained the confidence needed to ensure my analytical work is always precise and accurate.

Through Saint Rose, I was able to find my calling in forensic toxicology and have been servicing the community through scientific work ever since."

Things to know about
the School of Math and Sciences

We’re experienced.

Our faculty are skilled in their fields and steeped with industry experience, bringing their expertise to the classroom.

We get our feet wet.

Undergraduate research, internship, and fieldwork opportunities, a Mock Trial program, and the only Cold Case Analysis Center in New York State — our students gain real-world experience before they enter the real world.

We have the tools.

Our science labs are fully equipped, our Mock Trial teams practice in a simulation courtroom, and our criminal justice, forensic science, and forensic psychology majors have access to a Cold Case Analysis Center, where they work on actual cold cases with local law enforcement.

We’re where it’s happening.

Our location in New York State’s capital is a playground for students who want to explore careers in government, law enforcement, healthcare, research, nonprofit work, and more.

We care.

No matter their major, our students overwhelmingly have an altruistic motive and have plenty of opportunities to fulfill their drive to help others. Saint Rose embeds community service and volunteerism into almost everything we do — it’s one of our founding values.

Note from the Dean of The School of Math and Sciences

The School of Mathematics and Sciences transforms students into researchers, scientists, software developers, social workers, medical professionals, psychologists, and agents of the law. I’ve witnessed thousands of students find their passion, make discoveries, gain confidence, and sometimes, even surprise themselves by what they achieved.

As a professor here, I know our programs can be rigorous at times, however, we always put our students first and proactively advise and mentor them through it.
In the School of Mathematics and Sciences, we know that hands-on experiences are critical to the success of our students. Internships, fieldwork, laboratory activities, and undergraduate research are built into our programs to ensure students hit the ground running after graduation.

I’m proud to lead this school as dean, and I hope to meet you soon!

Dr. Ian MacDonald
Professor and Dean of the School of Mathematics and Sciences
