Academic Excellence and Passion for Teaching

The History and Political Science faculty are active scholars dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in teaching through modes of instruction that are engaging, rigorous, and interdisciplinary in scope. Faculty expertise span a comprehensive range of geography, chronology, and field including Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, gender, race, and women’s studies, theories of governance and social relations, global comparative political systems and structures, world conflicts and crises, international relations, and the historical origins and evolution of policy and institutions in the US and abroad.

The faculty strongly support and encourage service learning and active student engagement with the wider community and world. We encourage students to pursue study abroad programs in Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia by way of semester length enrollment in affiliated institutions and cultural immersion experiences in shorter summer sessions. Our locale in the heart of the capital district also affords a variety of student internships at the level of state and federal government and organized labor advocacy.
