Program Description

The major in History and Political Science is an interdisciplinary program that promotes analytical proficiency in global relations by exploring the historical and political emergence of democratic and non-democratic political structures. Students examine the process of state formation and colonial expansion as they analyze the struggle over sovereignty and citizenship in the modern world. Students will study the history of political movements that challenged entrenched systems of representation and resource allocation as they compare the various modes of interaction between the state and civil society .
 

Degree Requirements

To earn a B.A. in History and Political Science students must satisfy the following:
•45 credit hours in History and Political Science, 24 of which must be at the 300 or 400 level
•42 credit hours in Liberal Arts requirements
•35 credit hours in general electives, a portion of which may be used for internship or study abroad program opportunities
