Core Curriculum

Introductory and general survey courses are offered at the 100 and 200 level. Lower division courses are designed to provide students with a basic overview and methodological introduction to the field or geographic area being covered. Students are expected to complete their introductory core curriculum at the beginning of their program of study in order to be prepared to successfully complete their advanced coursework.

Advanced Coursework

Junior and Senior seminars are offered at the 300 and 400 level. These upper division courses build upon the foundational knowledge and methodological skills established in the introductory survey courses. Seminars develop analytical, research, and writing skills in an intimate classroom setting that allows for faculty mentoring and a free exchange of ideas. With an emphasis on global and multicultural relations, the History and Political Science programs offer many intellectual and internship opportunities.

Study Abroad and Internship Programs

History and Political Science majors are encouraged to participate in Study Abroad programs and Internships in order to cultivate their cultural literacy and foreign language skills and to acquire experience in professional settings.
