FIELD EXPERIENCE

As an art education major at Saint Rose, you will complete a total of 100 hours of field experience before you even begin student teaching.

At the conclusion of your sophomore year, you will spend two weeks working as a teacher’s aid in an elementary or middle school art classroom while recording your observations in a journal. After your experience is complete, you will discuss your observations with a member of the faculty.

In the semester before student teaching, you will spend 15 hours teaching art in an elementary classroom where you will be videotaped during each session. By reviewing the video in your Methods class, you will identify ways in which to improve your teaching skills.
