How to Apply for Financial Aid

There are many types of assistance available including academic scholarships, grants and financial aid. In order to apply for financial aid from The College of Saint Rose, you must:

  1. Complete the FAFSA. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) can either be completed on-line or submitted by mail. Be sure to list The College of Saint Rose Federal School Code—002705. FAFSA is available at www.FAFSA.ed.gov. The form should be completed and mailed in January or early February.
  2. Priority Deadline for receipt of FAFSA: February 1
Processing of the FAFSA can take up to 4 weeks, so be sure to allow sufficient time. The Financial Aid Office must receive your ISIR by February 1 to better serve you.
  3. New York state residents will receive an Express TAP Application from NYSHESC. This must be signed and returned to NYSHESC.

If you are not a New York state resident, you should investigate the availability of your home state’s aid programs.

Check out the Financial Aid program page for more information.

When you have been accepted for admission and have filed the necessary aid papers, the Office of Financial Aid will calculate an award package specifically designed for you. Financial need is determined by the information supplied by you (and your parents) on the FAFSA, including family size, income and assets, and the number of family members attending college. Eligibility for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and Pell Grant is determined by specific formulas established by appropriate state and federal agencies.

Your financial aid package may contain a combination of scholarships, grants, work study and loan funds from various programs.
