Meet Coach Fitzgerald
Gerald Fitzgerald is in his fifth year as head coach of The College
of Saint Rose men’s golf team where he brings a wealth of
knowledge and experience to the table. He is currently the head
golf professional at Hiawatha Trails Golf Course in Voorheesville,
NY. Additionally, Fitzgerald works as a PGA staff professional for
Dick’s Sporting Goods and serves as a consultant for company’s
PGA Advisory Board. Finally, he runs his own golf school, Fitzgerald
Golf Academy.
Fitzgerald has played a vital role in the development of junior
Jamie Bacon, who made his second consecutive appearance at the NCAA
Division II East/Northeast Super Regional in 2007.
From 1999-2003, Fitzgerald served as a PGA class "A"
head golf professional at Mill Road Golf Course in Latham, NY where
he developed junior golf programs and coordinated golf enhancement
services.
Fitzgerald worked for Sterling Golf Management Services, Inc. in
several capacities during a seven-year period prior to his arrival
in upstate New York. He served as the General Manager of the Franklin
Golf Club in Boston from 1998 through 1999 after holding a similar
position at the Chelmsford Country Club in Chelmsford, MA from 1996
through 1998. Fitzgerald also worked as an assistant golf professional
at the Newton Commonwealth Golf Course in Newton, MA for three years
prior to his tenure at Chelmsford CC. Furthermore, he was the head
golf coach at Chelmsford high school for two seasons.
Fitzgerald coordinated all start-up operations, planned and directed
all human resource management activities and helped develop junior
golf programs in conjunction with the Boston Recreation Department
at Franklin GC. At Chelmsford CC, he was responsible for directing
all daily operations including merchandising, staffing, marketing,
sales, memberships and customer relations.
He currently resides in Newtonville with his wife June and children,
Hannah, Fiona and Ian. A native of Ireland, Fitzgerald is a 1981
graduate of Marist College in County Westmeath, Ireland. |
