Announcing a New Center
for the Arts

The Massry
Center for the Arts
It has been said that it is the arts which gives life meaning,
the arts which make the heart want to create and the soul to sing.
On December 9, the heart and soul of the College collectively sung
with joy as the College announced a $2 million gift by the Massry
family that will permanently and symbolically ensure that the visual
and performing arts will always be a centerpiece of a Saint Rose
education. The largest gift ever by this prominent Capital Region
family, it will help fund the construction of the new Massry Center
for the Arts on Madison Avenue.
Juxtaposing images, sound and technological innovation, this building
will conceptually join the musical and the visual arts. A place
of spacefor the listener and the viewer, it will be an inspiring
teaching and learning facility immersing all who enter in the rich
kaleidoscopic world of the arts, positioning Saint Rose as one of
the premier liberal education institutions in the Northeast and
beyond. With a recital hall, and a two-story art gallery along with
rehearsal rooms and classrooms, the Massry Center for the Arts is,
perhaps most importantly, a clear commitment to the cultural life
of the City of Albany and the Capital Region, defining Saint Rose
once more as an engaged urban campus.
For now, we simply ask you to share in the excitement of this momentous
announcement. The campaign to build our new Center for the Arts
will begin right after the start of the new year!
