  • Goals 2000 Program—Mentored Teachers to Integrate Computers into the Classroom
  • Provided Coach for Odyssey of the Mind Team (youth competition)
  • Psychology Club raised money for the Arthritis Foundation
  • Dr. William Hagan and his students have participated in numerous activities
    within the New York Center for Studies on the Origins of Life. The NASA-supported work involved seven principal scientists from St. Rose, R.P.I. and SUNY. Dr. Hagan, Damaris Pinedo (Cytotechnology, '03), and alumnus Simon Cording (B.S. Biochemistry '97, M.S. Education '99, and chemistry teacher at Glens Falls High School) participated in s summer conference. Damaris and Simon not only worked inside the Science Center over the summer, where they were joined by Gisela Demant.
  • The Social Work Department has numerous field placements that provide internships in places such as senior citizen centers, domestic violence shelters, and family service agencies.
  • Social Work faculty serve on the Jail Oversight Committee of the Schenectady County Commission of Human Rights, on the advisory boards of the Human Services program, Schenectady County Community College and the Albany/Schenectady League of the Arts, and on the Board of Directors of ArtsPartners/Tsehaya & Company
  • Professor Gregory Gross has contributed journal articles that help in the understanding of social issues in The Journal of Progressive Human Services and in a new book on ethics published by The Council on Social Work Education.
  • Physical Education Department provides: an Annual Clown Program for St. Catherine's Home for Children; an Annual Clown Visit to Albany Medical Center; an Annual Wellness/Fitness Conference; an Annual Wellness/Fitness Fair; Low-Cost Swim Lessons to the Capital Area Children; Weekly Wellness/Fitness Guest Speakers; and Certification Workshops in AFAA - Personal Trainer, NDEITA - Personal Trainer, Aerobic Instructor, AEA - Water Aerobics, and Water Art - Water Aerobics.
