The Saint Rose graduate program in educational
psychology providesthe
flexibility you need in todays changing educational environment.
The program is designed both for those with no prior experience
in education and for those who have a background in education and
want to expand their skills and expertise. Also, this degree fulfills
the academic requirements for professional teaching certification
for childhood and adolescence education.
You may tailor the program in educational psychology to meet your
needs by choosing between two schemes. Scheme I allows you to select
electives in a variety of areas or concentrate in one area, such
as adult development and learning, reading, learning disabilities,
educational administration, college student personnel, school counseling,
community counseling or technology. Scheme II is relevant for students
who want to conduct empirical research under the close supervision
of a faculty member. All students gain a solid foundation in the
psychology of cognitive processes and human behavior within a variety
of learning and educational contexts.

THE SAINT ROSE DIFFERENCE
The Colleges program in educational psychology is a degree
for practitioners. You will be trained to critique any instructional
situation in institutional and noninstitutional settings. You will
learn from student-oriented, full-time faculty who combine academic
scholarship with practical experience and remain active consultants
in the field.
Educational Psychology students come from a variety of backgrounds
including government, business and nonprofit agencies. Within the
program, you will develop a network of colleagues who share insights
and work experiences. Most important, small classes and a collegial,
interactive, supportive atmosphere enable you to acquire the interpersonal
and research skills necessary to develop and implement viable educational
programs in a variety of settings.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
a complete Saint Rose graduate school application
a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution
official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
an undergraduate grade point average of 3.0
two letters of recommendation from faculty or professional references
international students must submit original, official transcripts,
translated into English by their college/university or professional
independent evaluator, a copy and translation of the original
diploma, a minimum score of 550 on the Test of English as a Foreign
Language (TOEFL) and 213 on computer-based exam.
REQUIRED COURSES
Educational Research
One Course in Adult, Adolescent or Child Psychology and Development
Theories of Learning
Mental and Educational Measurement
One course from any of the following areas: Motivation, Multiculturalism,
Statistics
One course from Technology in Education
Integrative Seminar in Educational Psychology
Students can choose to complete the remainder of their degree
through nine credits of electives or six credits of Advanced Research
and three credits of electives.
FINAL EVALUATION
Final evaluation is based on the satisfactory completion of all
courses and demonstration of an ability to relate this course work
in the integrative seminar. As part of the final evaluation, students
will write a major research paper and lead a round table discussion
of the papers thesis and research methods.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Students are prepared for careers in a variety of settings including
public and private schools, adult workshops, community centers,
nonprofit organizations, colleges and universities and training
centers in businesses.
