Spiritual Life and Community Service
At The College of Saint Rose, we believe that spirituality is an essential
part of the college experience. We affirm the importance of faith,
compassion and community service as integral to the educational
process. The vision of the founders of the College, the Sisters
of Saint Joseph of Carondelet, a Roman Catholic community of women
religious, continues to guide us. We believe that education is not
only that which is learned in a classroom but includes an exploration
of faith and the defining of values especially in the service of
others.
Rooted in the Roman Catholic intellectual and spiritual tradition,
the College supports an active Office of Spiritual Life that includes
the offices of Campus
Ministry and of Community
Service. A Sunday evening Eucharistic Liturgy continues to be
the source and summit of the spiritual life for many students and
members of the College community. Every fall, leaders of many of
the local faith communities come to campus to invite students to
participate in their churches, synagogues, mosques and meditation
centers. Most of the major religious traditions have houses of worship
within easy walking or commuting distance of the College.
The
Hubbard Interfaith Sanctuary provides a place of welcome for
people of all religious and spiritual traditions. This beautiful
structure supports the belief that spiritual development is an essential
part of our educational mission. The Sanctuary, a place of prayer,
meditation, celebration, and worship for people of all religious
traditions, provides the space for all to discover and celebrate
the power of the Spirit within and around us.
We welcome all to come and join us in our
events and programs.
