Department of Safety
and Security

The College of Saint Rose is concerned about the safety of all members of the campus community, guests and visitors. Several policies and procedures are designed to ensure a safe and secure environment. Presentations are made throughout the year as part of the College's Crime Prevention Program. The Crime Prevention Program is based upon the concept that all those in the campus community should be provided with the tools they need to be responsible for their own security and the security of others.

The Campus Security office is located at the entrance to Lima Hall at 366 Western Avenue and can be contacted from off-campus by dialing 454-5187 or from anywhere on-campus by dialing extension 5187, or *25 from any campus pay phone.

Escort Service
Security officers provide campus escorts 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week to students and staff upon request. Members of the campus community may also contact Campus Security from off-campus to arrange for an escort when they arrive at the College.

Emergency Blue Light Phone System
These phones are located on campus walkways and in parking lots. They can be used to contact Campus Security
in an emergency situation or to request a security escort.

Whistle Watch Program
The Saint Rose Student Association sponsors this program in cooperation with Campus Security and the Albany Police Department. Whistles are available free of charge to all members of the Saint Rose community.

Access to Campus Facilities
Except for residence halls, most College facilities are open when classes are in session. During the hours that the College is officially closed, College buildings are locked and only faculty, staff and students with proper ID are admitted. Residence hall doors are always kept locked and are accessible only to students living in that building. Resident directors and resident assistants live in the residence halls and are on-call 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week.

Security Advisory Committee
The Security Advisory Committee includes administrators, faculty, staff and students who examine policy and procedures and make recommendations to maintain the safest environment possible.

ID Cards
ID Cards are issued through the ID Card Office which is located in the Student Solution Center on the 3rd floor of Saint Joseph Hall. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm; ID photos taken from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Your initial Golden Knights ID Card is issued at no charge. However, if your card is lost or damaged due to negligence, you will be charged $ 25.00 to replace it. Your Golden Knights ID card should be carried with you at all times as it is your official college ID and campus access card. Do not punch a hole or slot in your card. If you do so and your card becomes disabled, you will be charged the replacement fee of $25.00. Your ID card is valid for as long as you are a member of The College of Saint Rose community. The functionality of the card becomes void upon termination or interruption of enrollment.

Parking
All parking is on a first-come, first-served basis. Resident Freshmen are not permitted to park on campus. Two decals per individual are permitted. The cost for the first permit is $25.00, and the cost for the second is $10.00.
